چکیده
Front Cover: In article 2300119 by Prokopios Georgopanos and co-workers, thermoresponsive particles from poly(N,N-dimethylacrylamide-co-N-isopropylacrylamide)-b-polystyrene are synthesized via reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) emulsion polymerization analyzed dynamic light scattering (DLS) transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The scale-up of the synthesis requires several changes in reaction composition conditions to maintain stability. These have no discernible effect on behavior particles, thus improve monomer conversion.

Controlled synthesis of thermoresponsive polymers derived from L-proline via RAFT polymerization.
Well-defined polymers derived from L-proline are synthesized using reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization and the amino acid-based polymers exhibit thermosensitive phase separation at lower critical solution temperatures (LCST = 15-45 degrees C) in aqueous medium.
متن کاملSynthesis of Polybutadiene Nanoparticles via Emulsion Polymerization: Effect of Reaction Temperature on the Polymer Microstructure, Particle Size and Reaction Kinetics
Polybutadiene nanoparticles were synthesized via batch emulsion polymerization of butadiene in the presence of potassium persulfate, disproportionate rosinate potassium cation and t-dodecyl mercaptane as initiator, emulsifier and chain transfer agent, respectively. Polymerization reaction was performed at different temperatures (60, 70 and 80 °C). Conversion was measured at the various time int...
متن کاملSubmicron polyethylene particles from catalytic emulsion polymerization.
Particles of linear polyethylene (M(n) = (2-3) x 10(3) g x mol(-)(1); M(w)/M(n) = 2-4) obtained by catalytic emulsion polymerization of ethylene possess a nonspherical, lentil-like shape with an average aspect ratio of ca. 10 and diameters from 30 to >300 nm, as determined by TEM and AFM. The particle structure results from a stacking of the lamellae along the one shorter axis of the lentils (i...
متن کاملSynthesis and Characterization of Encapsulated Nanosilica Particles with an Acrylic Copolymer by in Situ Emulsion Polymerization Using Thermoresponsive Nonionic Surfactant
Nanocomposites of encapsulated silica nanoparticles were prepared by in situ emulsion polymerization of acrylate monomers. The synthesized material showed good uniformity and dispersion of the inorganic components in the base polymer, which enhances the properties of the nanocomposite material. A nonionic surfactant with lower critical solution temperature (LCST) was used to encapsulate the sil...
متن کاملSynthesis of polystyrene-silica composite particles via one-step nanoparticle-stabilized emulsion polymerization.
Polystyrene-silica core-shell composite particles are prepared by one-step emulsion polymerization with a nonionic initiator VA-086, solely stabilized by silica nanoparticles. The silica nanoparticles are successfully incorporated as the shell, likely due to the fact that the nanoparticles are thermodynamically favorable to adsorb and remain at the liquid-liquid interfaces during the emulsion p...
